Intel C2D Extreme in my gaming laptop and my other Laptop, relegated my C2Q Extreme to powering my server when I amalgamated my main rig and server into a new server :(

I used to be a diehard AMD fan for 2 reasons.

1. They came along and gave Intels monopolistic prices a kick in the arse and caused lower pricing
2. They used to be a good match for Intel performance

Sadly these days they have stopped competing with Intel at the bleeding edge and refocused more to their strategy when they first entered the market, budget sector dominance and volume sales.

I currently have an AMD XP6000 but will be dropping AMD for an Intel i7 system within the next couple of months. Unfortunately (in my opinion) AMD has lost the plot. :'(

AMD have had problems going down to finer die sizes and manufacturing tolerances and lag behind in more efficient power couplings in their chips and hence still run at higher voltages and have lower power efficiency. they have also diversified buying ATI and the like, theyre moving towards high spec integration systems for the mainstream market, hence buying ATI as what always devalues fully integrated boards is the poor GPU performance.

I still remain an AMD fan but for laptops I'm afraid Intel are better, they run cooler and longer, on desktops AMD were just as good for a while, I would have probably tried a phenom based system but when I purchased my gear here I had to use what the shops have, (online market is zero here - so backward) and the shops only stock limited items and most are brainwashed into thinking Intel is better quality (bizzare as some of AMD's biggest fabs are in this region, including one in Singapore itself), it really is an awful market to buy computer gear here in Singapore. How I miss ebuyer.co.uk :(
