Starting a fun thread, just reply with the name of any OLD game u liked (Any Platform). If you remember it, say so

I'll start...

One Must Fall: 2097 (Think Mortal Kombat, but with Robots. I hope they make a modern re-make one day)

What do you mean by old, as in games we used to play a long time ago or just old games in general?

If the former, I recently picked up Quake 1 and it's mission packs on Steam. It's single player is actually fun provided you don't die a lot, and it's another example on why you don't always need a good story for a good experience.

Although anyone picking up these might want to get some user-made patches on the Steam forums to actually play the expansions and enable the music.

Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect are more great oldies, made by the same guys who did both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

BF1942 with the expansion packs were definitely a favorite of mine. Before that - well, I have always like Civilization, in its various evolutions. Age of Empires... Geez, I even got right into Sim City for a while.

Of more modern games, Company of heroes and its sequel were good value.

In no particular order old games

Consoles, never had and never will have. Friends has things like NES, SNES, 3DO, Neo Geo etc, thats about the last time I could be bothered trying, even then friends and I were LAN gaming :)

Falcon 3
Sim City 2000
Red Alert Series until they became predictable and crap
Wargasm Multiplayer
Sam n Max
Deus Ex
Hitman (Film of game is very good too)
Doom
Duke Nukem 3D
Quake
Comanche - multiplayer
Homeworld 2 (I still play the Homeworld 2 - complex mod occasionally, massively improved and updated)
Serious Sam - co-operative multilayer was always massively hilarious
Colin McRae Rally multiplayer
Blood (uncensored version) - multiplayer

Flight Sims, driving games and FPS (FPS in the days when few had rigs advanced enough to play) - Cant be bothered with much but FPS now.

For Doom 2 and Duke Nukem a bunch of us would spend time designing custom levels and then try each others out at LAN's

Yah, big fan of Civilization and Age of Empires 1 and 2. Plus the Simcity games. Deux Ex was epic.

I remember spending HOURS making Doom 2 levels to play against my step-brother. Constantly trying to make a level that I can complete, that he couldn't. lol.

I'll have to mention Dune 2000, as one of the best "old" RTS's I ever played. Period.

I doubt few will forget "Castle of the Winds" ??? One of the best dungeon-crawl RPG's for Windows 3.11 ^_^

ZX Spectrum - Manic Minor , in finding this link I just saw that they ported this game to the Z88 (of which I own one)... must track that down. :)

PC - The usual suspects, Doom, Quake (yay for the Lithium Mod that added a grappling hook) and all the other id engine spin-offs, Duke Nukem and finally Dune (thanks Klawful for bring back some fond memories on sending vehicles across the sand hoping like heck they'd not get eaten!). This list of early gaming could go on and on...

PC - Loved the C&C series, (including Zero Hour, Red Alert, Generals...) until C&C 3+ drove me away. :( Along the same lines Total Annihilation , still going strong with thousands of custom maps!

Real Old School... arcade games I used to cycle for miles to play at the sea side arcades - Robotron 2080 , Defender , Mr Do! , Star Wars along with those noisy flashy pinball machines! Much quicker cycliing home without the pockets full of coins.

I remember playing System Shock 2. Was such a good game. Cool upgrades and tricky gun-fights.
