Wake Island 2142

Hey guys

What do you think of the wake island map?

I personally like it and would like too see it on the S.A.F rotation.

+'s
+ very intense titan combat as you have to defend from both directions.
+ really good map for getting air kill badges (got silver from this map recently)
+ a rest from titan map and silo capping (but still keeping in with titan theme)
+ can shoot titan gunners (with tank, TV missle, whatever etc)


-'s
- game mechanics to determine outcome is _slightly_ flawed in my opinion.
- can be hard to play if you dont know what to do, eg ppl start "blowing" the core flag
with rdx etc.


Maybe 1 in 10 maps or so, however that works?

Not a bad community map (aside from a few landscape bugs), was playing a full round today and wouldn't actually mind if it was implemented in the actual SAF server rotation. Unlike other maps it really sucks to be in the water though.

well i know this map and isnt it a assult conquest only map
and being that wouldnt it be northern stike only then.

Actually it's Non-NS and I think there was another Assault Conquest Map that isn't NS as well.

I'd love to try some fresh maps but I know it just isnt that easy. Certain official maps would limit who has the ability to join, and for custom maps I'm really not sure, I assume the prospective player would have to add the maps at their end, and if they had to, how would they know to in advance without some point of notification such as the forum here. If so some player blind joining the server would not be aware of that. Bit of a dilemma I suppose.

Before the forum got nuked by the host a while back a few of us had a thread going discussing map possibilities. If its still of interest I can dig up the information and options I found?

It was part and parcel of the 1.50 patch i believe so therefore anyone joining your server surely has to have it.

When we had it in the rotation for a while many would leave as soon as it started. I personally don't think it's a great Titan map. We really haven't had much luck with adding maps or switching between titan and conquest maps. The server probably crashes and resets enough already.

Will be interested to see what other says.

i agree,this is a titan server,lets keep it that way,i enjoy the maps we rotate thru,so do may other gamers.lets keep it that way.lets keep it that way.did i say lets keep it that way??

I wouldnt mind a city assault map rototaion on a weekend or something, city maps are fast and all all about team work

if anything,and we had a poll about it or something,and about 99% of people had it,i would have a northern strike on the slowest day of the server once a week or month or whatever,i quite enjoyed ns,but then again its flags,not silos....

Wake requires longer range weapons for the most part, its an excellent sniping map :D Good pilots and gunners can have a good killing spree and its let down by the lack of amphibious vehicles and no boats.

That was something BF2 did a lot better, more open water as natural barriers and a reason to justify using the APC's. Wake in BF2 was a lot of fun defending the choke points as long as you could.

wake island is superb for gunshiping plenty of kils if you gota good gunner (pac) or if yew have the 1man warmachine (eu)
that & defending then atacking the titan core & base next to it rack up some good points 30+kills & gold star with the baur :P

There are 3 good spots you can from a great distance lock down the ramp and area behind that titan without being spotted :)
