In the soundcard settings for mic input there should be an option hidden behind an advanced button that is +20db boast. If I do not set this before loading 2142 everyone complains that I'm too quiet. Nothing I set in the game menu makes any difference.

Make sure your mic input for your system is set to your actual mic and not a webcam mic (if you have one). I know Messenger will happily use a webcam mic even though there is a dedicated mic input on the sound card. That app needs to be told what to use.

That might help.

I seem to have the same problem at the moment even though i've never had the problem before.I've got my on board mic settings cranked to max and mic boost enabled in game but I can't get it to register on 2142 mic setup.Further to that when i do a sound recording with windows its almost distorting from the max volume.
No idea whats going on?

sometimes its because your mic test is still on.

either that if your running vista there is seperate mic volume controls _somewhere_ for use only in games.

hope this helps.

Also in the audio screen in 2142
Click mic boost to on.
Seems ever time I start the game, this is switched off and no one can hear me until I turn it on :<

ditto here with the new MB I've gotta go to the MB program "HD ADeck" and make sure mic enhanced is turned up to 18db every time i start the game - it automatically defaults back to 0 after a reboot grrrrrrrrrrr......................
