Logitec gaming software...you fuck

After having my G35 just stop working and trying endless reinstalls , also happened from a fresh install.
The LGS comes uninvited when you update your set point software. You dirty fuckers...

So I thought I would update to wireless g930... I installed the fucker and fuck me.... The same problem..it wouldn't load the software or detect ... And constant popups "unplug and reconnect you G90headset"

Fucker fucking fucks...
After googling fucks ... IT was a update to LGS........
So delete it, as it also will fuck with ya G15 or logitec keyboards

Do this

Unplug your G930
Uninstall LGS 8.00 or newer and/or G930 Software
Go to Device Manager
Uninstall G930 (if it is there) - you have to reboot your computer after doing that.
Go to Windows/system32/drivers (maybe it's hidden and you have to make it visible)
Instruction for XP, Instruction Vista/Win 7
Search for ladf*.sys drivers (easiest way is to select first driver in folder and type l-a-d-f)
Create a backup folder on your desktop
Cut and Paste all ladf*.sys drivers to backup folder, (you need administrative rights for that).
(* stands for more letters e.g.. ladfBakerCamd64.sys)
Install G930 Software.
Plug in G930.
Done. Everything should work now.
You only have to reconfigure your Equalizer and G-Keys (or paste backup'd AppData/Logitech to it's origin.).

You can delete now Backup Folder or save it if there are further problems. You can also try to bring back your settings with copy and paste different backup'd ladf*.sys  but I do not recommend that. Drivers Folder is no playground!

I too have had bad experiences with logitecs device drivers. Had the g7 wireless gaming mouse. Had nothing but issues with it. Now you cant even buy one because they have so many issues they mustve take them all off the shelves. Had very poor support from logitec that just kept sending me around in circles. Logitec from my experience have the worst drivers. My advice would be for any of there devices, if it works dont update it. Also had another keyboard that I couldn't even get to work from new so I took it back. They told me to try a few things but I tried everything still no good.

Meh, love my current mouse. A4 Tech "X7 Series" Gaming mouse. The software included is epic well designed and completely customisable.

How else would I be able to pwn as much as I do when im in the zone. lol

I still reckon Logitech keyboards are pretty good, but im not sure I'd ever pick a Logitech Headset to be honest. I'd be tempted to give the name "Turtle Beach" a go from all the great feedback I've heard about them.

My current headset isnt even a proper headset, it's cheap Philips headphones with a clip-on mic sello-taped to the cable. lol. It works tho, reasonably good sound I guess, for what I paid anyway (Normally $50, down to $20).

Definitely need to upgrade my headset at some point tho, I know it would make a BIG difference to me since I make maybe as much as 30% of my important tactical decisions based on what I can hear, especially if I'm on foot in a vehicle-based map... you can hear and track a tank from over 200m away. And it's important to hear enemy fire/footsteps/reloading/shouts over-top of a enemy/friendly tank rumbling by. lol

By the way guys, I've been looking into soundcards. Does anyone own a Asus Xonar DS Soundcard? or know someone who does? Can give info on how good it is, I've found a potentially cheap one for myself that I'm tempted to get.

My audio settings are maxed out, but Skyrim still seems kinda quiet compared to how I like it. Particularly the voice. I figured this would work as a two-fold fix. More tools to customise my audio, louder audio, and higher quality (I hope).

Speaking of surround sound. Ever since Bc2 and Bf3 included the surround sound positioning just dosnt seem like its full surround sound. When I was playing 2142 with an Xfi sound card and proper 7.1 channel headset ( none of this virtual dolby digital crap the surround sou d positioning was 10x better.

headsets can never give you a true surround sound experience, simply because they do not work the same way that our brain works. Sure, DSP's can give a bit of that experience, but its never going to match having multiple point sources for sound.

Geekery translation - your brain derives the origin of the sound source by measuring both the difference in amplitude between your ears, and the timing differences. These timing differences are miniscule amounts of time - remember your 3rd form science, and you will remember that sound travels at around 330 - 340m/s depending on the density of the air. Your ears may be 13 cm ( approx ) apart, so that is approx .0004 seconds from one ear to the other, assuming the sound is coming from directly to your side. Now assume its maybe 5 degrees off center from your front, and the timing differences can be .00002 seconds. What your brain is doing is looking at the phase differences of the sound between one ear and the other.

To further complicate things, your brain can only actually locate things on both a horizontal and vertical plane if it also registers the movements of your head at the same time as the timing differences. Movements that are way smaller than you can recognize, but the inner ear has devices which can, and therefore most of us have the ability to detect these for the purposes of sound localization. This is why often when trying to pinpoint a sound source, people and animals will tilt their head, to try and maximize the difference between the phase of the sound wave at each ear.

A DSP can easily modify the phase of a sound source, which allows a degree of localization which is not available with headphone stereo reproduction ( normal 2 channel headsets ), but it can never give you the 3d localization ability because the headset is attached to your head, and therefore any of the micro movements your head makes to try and pinpoint the sound source are lost, but your brain thinks that they are still happening. Result is that no headset, no matter what its configuration is, will ever be able to provide the "sound stage" that even 2 speakers which are not attached to your head are able to make. Go adding in maybe a pair of surround speakers, and you should have the ability to detect sound on a horizontal plane of 360 degrees, with if not anything from very little to almost full localization on the vertical plane as well. If your sitting well placed in regard to your speakers, a center channel speaker is redundant. However, adding in front highs, or side highs, will give you a very good ability to perceive within a 5 degree or smaller area, where a sound is supposed to be coming from ( I say supposed to be coming from because in context, we are discussing in game sound. )

For all this..... I use some Sennheiser HD650's and they are awesome, but don't give me anywhere the localization ability I get when its plugged into my HT processor, which runs a 7 channel output, including front highs... SAF of doing so is rather low, however.

Anyone make it to the end? :D

Thanks for the info Oggy...

New rig install, G19 Keyboard, G5 Mouse and G930 Headset... all worked perfectly until the update... now the G930 isn't recognised and W7 just keeps reporting that a USB Device is not installed correctly. Fingers crossed deleting system files and installing again will do the trick.

Didn't fix it. I found updated drivers from my motherboard USB Hub and installed it and it looks to be working again. When I rebooted it detected and installed the G930. something in LGS update obviously wants latest USB drivers. Hopefully it'll stay working now.

I went the USB Hub route only because it was seen as an unknown device in Device Manager and selecting it and trying to update drivers told me correctly that it was a G930 and the drivers were already installed.

Fingers crossed!
