Ok people who own a SSD, did you have any bios setting issues?

I had to set my bios to some IDE legacy mode or something, seems weird, but i done my windows point test thingy and i score 7.4, i got 7.8 on the read/write, so i guess that setting has not slowed anything down.....still confussed thou. thought i could just plug in an play like a normal HDrive

Make/Model/Capacity?

You might want to see if there are any firmware updates.

The options are IDE or AHCI mode. I think there's advantages to using AHCI (it makes use of NCQ) but you have to have it enabled in BIOS and I think tweak some settings in Windows 7 too. I'm sure the manufacturer will have a forum with details. If the Motherboard is old it too might need a BIOS update?

new mobo, crucialm4 60gb, just done a firmware upgrade on it,

i start pc hits the page where i can choose to hit delete to go bios etc and it freezes on it and has a grafical glitche.

unplug SSD and it starts and i can go into bios, change that setting and reboot and it runs, but in order to make my ASATA docking work on my new case it suggests running it in AHCI mode. which i have not set yet as il have to unplug my SSD etc but not easy to do over and over again.

They want you to set AHCI for the dock because that will allow hot swapping of drives. Word from the guys is that you should set it to AHCI for the SSD to work the best.

Are you saying that it will only boot from the SSD if it's set to IDE rather than AHCI.

From what i have read you should have AHCI enabled when you install your O/S.If you install your O/S with the bios set to ide then change it to AHCI your drive will not be detected among other issues.

Majorpous would know more about this though.
