BSOD should give you a STOP code... google it and see what it means. It might just point to what exactly is causing the problem if it's hardware. Get yourself a copy of MEMTEST and check your RAM too. The BSOD will include a bunch of addresses, this too can help work out want is going on.

Check that RAM it would be the first thing I would do (and what most techs do as part of their burn-in testing)

www.memtest.org/

Basically burn the ISO to a CD and boot from it -- and wait for it to do a few passes (will take a while).

If I recall, 5-20mins of memtest is enough to rule out most problems with the ram, but a good hour is recommended. Sometimes errors will show up late when the ram's heated up a bit.

Some people do 6-12 hour tests, but I don't see the point since like 99% of errors show up within a hour. lol

Best of luck!

cheers, i have read its more of a sound driver issue? people have ran the test etc, i can play other games fine so if it was hardware it should be across the board not just baGcompany.

but will give it a go in a few days time

That's why I suggested letting it do a couple of passes rather than waiting a specified time. There's no telling how long a pass will take but it will test the ram in all varying patterns which is exactly what we need it to do. :) There's 8GB of RAM to test so it's going to take a while... I'm guessing an overnight thing rather than an hour one afternoon.

If the RAM passes at least one complete MEMTEST pass without errors it's not your ram that's causing problems.

Remember, if the ram is faulty, cover it in eggs and put it in the microwave for 3minutes. That generally fixes it.... or perhaps that was the recipe for scrambled eggs. I forget which... lemme know how it turns out (The ram, not the eggs)

Actually, the longer a stress test runs the better, heavy load can build up heat etc and only expose faults over a period of time, generally the longer you can run tests the better.

Check all the fans are running ok, including vga card, and the heatsink on it is flowing air ok.

If the fault is localised to one or a handful of programs rather than across the board your driver issue would sound more likely to be the culprit.

Also, you havent mentioned your PSU and its rating :)

I all is ok try these, theyll run free for 30 days :

www.passmark.com/download/pt_download.htm

www.tufftest.com/ttw/

While stress testing always keep a close eye on various system temps like cpu, vga etc.

Hi all

PSU is a 700w cant remember the brand but it is good.

Was playing online for about an hour had the odd screen flicker but no BSOD all my temps were stable, going to use/find some sort of logger to measure the temps an fan speeds whilst playing.. whats the best for this??

Rivatuner is probably the best for heat/temp/fan logging on your graphics card, in my opinion.

CPU/MOBO and the such, I use HW Monitor for that, gives me the minimum and maximum heat values for everything. As well as voltages on the mainboard.

Tho I'm sure there are better tools someone here can suggest.

Ok, psu sounds ok, without having a proper psu tester to hand well assume its not brownout or similar such problems.

Rivatuner Klawful suggests sounds good, and Sandra was good in the past, didnt realise it was still in development.

Once Ive got a system up and burn/stress tested properly and seems to be ok I leave it at that now, I have as little going on to bug me as possible in the system tray beyond what absolutely needs to be there these days :)

If you narrow it down to suspecting a particular part or item and thats still new and covered by warranty with the retailer personally I play it safe and aggressively hassle for a replacement or an alternative, because once you have that element of doubt about something in mind, its just a constant annoyance.

Riva tuner is good i use Evga precision.

Do you have the fan profile set to default? maybe having this new sexy rig is feeding ur gfx card alot more info and its overheating? and all you need to do is create a ramping fan profile?

Realtemp360 is good for monitoring Cpu temps www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1872/Real_Temp_3.60.html

P@@@@@@ :P

Hi Goat,
kilabee was having a similar problem look up the specs for your ram and see what the voltage is for it.
Seems that it has fixed his BSOD voltage was low.(He ran days of memtest got new mobo etc)
Worth a shot.

only difference was going back to win7 ultimate 64, but i was running that on my amd setup awhile ago, so really not to sure.

Ram is meant to run at 1.5v, mobo is running at 1.5v.. il have to wait and see if i can get a monitoring program to work.
